Hello
Welcome to Les Rosbifs - Food fresh from the Farm
Why are we different - what's so good about our food?
Les Rosbifs is a small family run business in a unique setting. Situated on Northfield Farm, a small working farm in the beautiful rolling Leicestershire and Rutland countryside we are able to offer a seasonal menu using local ingredients and award winning meats from the Northfield Farmshop next door. The fully licensed restaurant offers a relaxed, rustic experience and has been described as "the big friendly farmhouse". There’s a magnificent steak menu, local ales and hearty traditional dishes handmade in our kitchen. We also make our own ice cream, chutneys and breads.

Events & Special Offers to Come
Father's Day 16th June
Treat Dad to a traditional Sunday Lunch. Menu HERE
Les Rosbifs' Summer Holiday
As a family run restaurant we have to take the occasional break to recharge our batteries and complete some routine maintenance.
Therefore we will be closing the restaurant from Monday 1st July until 6pm on Wednesday 10th July. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused but we will be back refreshed and invigorated for the rest of the summer and hope to see you later in July.
Next Charity Quiz Wednesday August 21st @ 7.30pm
Great fun was had by all & another £250.00 raised for the DLR Air Ambulance at our May Day Charity Quiz. We have already been asked when the next one will be, so bearing this in mind and the time of year we thought it would be nice to have a Quiz with Barbecue.
Price of tickets will be the same as usual at £10.00 per person with a good range of meaty barbie food on offer. (Touch wood for fine weather)
Bakers United - Sat 15th June (tackling Bath Buns, Bagels and Croissants)

Why are we called Les Rosbifs?
According to linguistics expert Professor Richard Coates of Sussex University the phrase was originally used as a gastronomic term, referring to the English style of cooking beef. "Rosbifs became a mark of the Englishman as far as the French were concerned in the 18th Century, simply because it was a very popular way of cooking and became part of the French vocabulary, like "le weekend",
By 1850, the phrase had been extended to mean Englishmen themselves. William Makepeace Thackeray wrote in The Virginians: "Only my white cockade and coat had saved me from the fate which the other canaille [rabble] of Rosbifs had deservedly met with."
